The Forensic Anthropology Foundation of Guatemala or FAFG applies forensic sciences to investigate, search, exhume, and identify the victims of Guatemala’s Internal Armed Conflict. Using five technical Department – Victim Investigation and Documentation, Forensic Archaeology, Forensic Anthropology, Forensic Genetics, and Confirmation of Human Identification – FAFG incorporates a multidisciplinary system to accompany families in the search for truth, justice, and recovery of the remains’ of their loved ones. Through this forensic process, the recovered evidence is delivered to the Prosecutor’s Office to bolster justice, life histories of the survivors are documented and preserved, and the FAFG shares its comprehensive experience and expertise with forensic and civil society agents at the national and international level.
